Geography Bee High School Stages

For students in the High School division (in 9th-12th grade), the International Geography Bee is divided into three stages plus one optional one :

0. Optional Qualifying Exam

High school students can take the Qualifying Exam to qualify directly for the International Geography Championships, which will be held in July 2022, in the United States.That would also give them more time to plan their trip to the United States. If you would like to take the Qualifying Exam, please email info@iacompetitions.com.

1. Regional Tournaments

Any student in grade 9-12 can register for a Regional Tournament. There is no qualification needed.

2. National Championships

The top 50% students at any Regional Tournament qualify for the Geography Bee National Championships, to be held in Ottawa in May.

3. International Geography Championships

The top 25% students on the Qualifying Exam getting at least a score of 30 and the top 50% students at each Regional and at the Canadian Championships of the International Geography Bee qualify for the International Geography Championships, to be held in Vermont and Boston, in the USA, on July 3-10, 2022.
